"South Africa's national flower, the protea is symbolic of my family roots and my love for natural beauty. Nature has long been my greatest source of personal inspiration. I chose to use the protea as a central theme and image for my business as it honors my family lineage and speaks to the element of beauty that I endeavor to incorporate in every element of a design."
An immigrant from South Africa, Josh has long cherished a love for nature. Driven by the pursuit of perfection and inspired by natural beauty, Josh discovered a passion for fine furniture while living in Black Mountain, North Carolina.
After marrying a Wilmington native, Josh relocated to Eastern North Carolina with his wife McKinley and young son Louie. He is bringing the heritage and tradition of fine furniture and joinery to the Wilmington area, and beyond.
Josh often sources local lumber from trees that are blown over in storms, or otherwise have to be removed. From black walnut to white oak, much of the furniture he makes is from trees he personally salvaged. This truly sustainable life-cycle is key to the methods that are so important to the story that is being told through his furniture.
